Hare and Hounds

BON ACCORD MOTORCYCLE CLUB HARE & HOUNDS NATIONAL. NORTH EAST SCOTLAND. SUNDAY 13th March

In spite of a poor weather forecast and snow in the morning of the event the Bon Accord National Hare & Hounds at Glen Trusta in the Angus glens in the North East of Scotland went ahead.

With a 90+ entry it was tough going and the marshalls re-routed and cut muddy areas out until the route settled as the weather improved in the afternoon.

There was even a wee blink of sun and patches of blue sky towards the closing stages.

The course consisted of dirt roads, steep hill climbs, forestry breaks, moor crossings and narrow forest tunnels – a good variation and well marked.

2010 Scottish Hare and Hound Championship Announced

Due to popular demand the SACU has announced a new Adult Scottish Hare and Hound Championship.

Scottish Hare and Hound events attract up to 200 entries with competitions spread all over the country. There are provisionally 5 rounds for 2010 although the season will actually start on the 22nd November 2009 at Bon Accord event.

The Championship will be decided before the end of October 2010 to ensure the Champions receive their awards at the SACU presentation in November 2010. There will be two Melville events at Lochhouses and another at West Linton with the Grampian Motorcycle Club running a Hare and Hound at Woodside Motocross track on the 27th December this year.

The regulations allow any type of tyre and motocross bikes are welcome. There will not be a specific motocross class at all events but they can take part on a motocross licence.

The classes are Expert, Over 40, Clubman Clubman B and Sportsman. The Melville runs a two hour Motocross class at Lochhouses although this will not count towards the Championship.

At the time of going to press the dates are provisional and there may be a sixth round to be confirmed by the Borders Enduro Club.
