Round 7 took place at new ground at Hill of Tillymorgan by Colpy. A nice piece of ground with great possibilities for trials and maybe more.
Entries have dropped again over the last few rounds from a promising start to 2010. If you have a reason for not riding in that you think the club should change something to attract you back please use the About Us/Contact page to let us know. It's your club after all.
The 4th Round of the club championship will hopefully take place at Monymusk at the third time of trying. 25th April 11am start.
The 3rd round was moved from Monymusk to Barras Quarry and was well attended with 30 riders taking on a well set out trial. At last we've managed a trial in 2010 that was not held in extreme conditions.
The second round of the 2010 championship was run at Findon in snow covered ground but according to the riders it was OK. The next round is at Monymusk on the 14th of March in and around the burn so hopefully the weather gods will start to give us a break.
2010 RULE CHANGE
Following some discussion at the 2009 AGM it has been decided to change the approach to observing club trials from the beginning of the 2010 championship. Inconsistency of marking was the main concern with some individuals riding on their own or in very small groups. If for example one group of any size is marking very strictly and another group is being generous it affects the end result and cannot be seen as ‘fair’. For 2010 the club are going to nominate individual observers at each trial (the number will depend on the entry size) who will wear orange bibs and act as observers for a group of riders. All riders can then only ride the sections when being observed by an official observer. The choice of observer will depend on the who’s entered but will whenever possible be drawn from the committee members and ideally SACU qualified clerks of course.
If a rider is finding the progress too fast or slow they can move at will to another group as long as they continue to be observed by an official observer. Ideally riders would stay in their original groups and try to ensure that groups contained mainly people riding the same class or route.
Obviously this will be trialed (pardon the pun) from the first 2010 round. However the committee will monitor it and make changes as required to ensure the events run smoothly and please the riders.
The Bon Accord MC are well supported in trials with a large number of riding members. We usually run 11 or 12 club championship rounds every year with 10 rounds counting towards the various class champions. We cater for all abilities from complete beginner to full expert. Most trials are laid out with four different routes marked through most sections to ensure there is a suitable level of challange provided for everyone.
The club also run SACU national trials usually two per year and in 2009 got another first for the club by being the first club in Scotland to hold a trial in the new SACU combined trials championship.
If you've always wanted to give it a go, why not come along to one of our events and see what its all about. The guys and sometimes girls will make you welcome and show what its all about.
