D2D Adventure Trial is NOT About Speed!

The D2D adventure trial follows a carefully planned long-distance circuit, often split into multiple loops to cover a significant amount of ground.

Riders experience a mix of terrain, from winding rural roads to challenging off-road sections that test balance, technique, and machine control.

Unlike other competitive motorcycle events, D2D does not rely on outright speed to determine winners. Instead, success comes down to navigational accuracy, off-road proficiency, and consistency across a variety of challenges.

Riders are observed at key off-road sections, earning points based on their performance.

FAQs

Explore answers to common questions about our club, events, and membership benefits.

Who can take part in D2D?

D2D is open to riders of all backgrounds, from weekend explorers to seasoned rally competitors. There are separate classes for different motorcycle categories, ensuring a fair and competitive environment for all participants:

Lightweight Category – Adventure and dual-sport bikes up to 700cc.
Heavyweight Category – Larger adventure motorcycles over 700cc.

What type of bike should I have to participate?

To participate, riders must have a road-legal bike, suitable protective gear, and basic off-road riding experience.

How do I register for the event?

Check our Events Page, or our News Section, or even our social media channels, there will be plenty of information there related to our next available event, and how to sign-up.

How difficult is the D2D trial?

The event is designed to be challenging but accessible to a wide range of riders.

The terrain varies from gravel tracks and forest trails to technical off-road sections, but there are no extreme enduro-style obstacles.

Riders should have some off-road experience and be comfortable handling their motorcycle on mixed terrain.

Do I need a roadbook or GPS navigation system?

Yes, the route is navigated using a provided road book (PDF & GPX file).

While a traditional road book holder is recommended, many riders use mobile phone mounts or GPS devices for navigation.

Some sections will also have route markers to help guide riders.

What happens if I struggle with an off-road section?

The off-road challenges are observed, but the event is not a race—it's about skill and control.

If you find a section too difficult, you can carefully attempt an alternative line or seek assistance from marshals.

Missing a section may result in penalty points but does not automatically disqualify you.

Is fuel and food available along the route?

Riders are responsible for planning their fuel stops, as petrol stations may be limited along the course.

A compulsory lunch break is included in the event schedule, with food available at designated points.

It’s also recommended to carry water and snacks for long stints on the bike.

What happens if my bike breaks down during the event?

If you experience a mechanical issue, recovery assistance may be available in certain areas, but riders should come prepared with basic tools and spares.

It’s a good idea to ride with a buddy or group for support in case of any difficulties.
